What’s The Best Time To Visit Bali?

The best time to visit Bali is actually anytime! But many things can affect what time is the best time to go to Bali for you. Things like Bali weather, events, peak/off peak seasons and price, for example. Here we discuss all these things so you can make up your mind, for what works best for you!

Bali Weather and Climate

Bali’s weather is beautiful all year round! It boasts a beautiful tropical climate which is split into two seasons – wet and dry. The dry season runs from May through to September. The wet season runs from October through to April.

In terms of weather, as a general guide, the best time to visit Bali is probably during the dry season, from May through to September.

However, we have visited Bali in both the wet and Dry Season and loved the weather on both trips. Bali’s wet season does not mean there is torrential rain all day every day. Yes, there is more rain then in the dry season. But you still get beautiful sunny days, and even when it rains, it’s usually only for a short while.

Peak and Off Peak Seasons

Whilst the weather may be great during May to September, you also need to consider peak and off peak seasons.

Peak season equals more expensive and more crowds. For Bali, peak season is July and August, during any Australian school holidays and Christmas and New Years.

So if you prefer it more peaceful or want to save some money, avoid the peak season. Luckily, off peak season is just as beautiful.

Bali Events

Another thing to keep in mind when choosing your time to go on your holiday, are Bali events or festivals. Some events may interest you and some events may restrict what you can do. Click here for a Bali Events Calendar.

Nyepi Day - The Day Of Silence

Nyepi Day signifies the start of the Saka New Year in Bali and is a day of Silence, reflection, fasting and meditation. Because of this, the airport is closed, no one is allowed on the streets or beaches, no taxi's are in operation. Bali is essentially shut down.

  1. completely agree that its worth checking events! We randomly ended up in Lovina during the Lovina Festival and it was free and fun!

September is ideal in our experiences, because the crowds die down but it still isn’t too rainy. Keep in mind, though, that if you visit a less touristy area outside of peak tourism season, you may become everyone’s favorite person to talk to (and hawk to)!
