Location
Located in central Bali, approx. 20 – 30 mins from Kuta. Although Ngurah Rai International Airport is reported to be here, it is actually in Tuban.
Overview
Denpasar may be the capital but it’s not the capital of tourism. Most tourists do not go to here, as it is not promoted as a place to visit and it may not have the wide variety of tourist attractions as other places. But it is a city rich in culture, temples, local activity, markets and indonesian food. Being that it is not a main tourist destination you will find that a lot of things are cheaper here too.

Accommodation options are more limited as most people stay here for business reasons. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend staying in Denpasar for your holiday, but visiting here on a day trip.

- Shopping (especially at markets where the prices are much cheaper then those at the main tourist areas)
- Temples
- Indonesian Food (there are many restaurants and market stalls where you can try an array of Indonesian food)
- Buying Silk (some great stores with reasonable prices)
Things To Do
Denpasar is not a quiet town, but the activities are mainly local business related, rather then tourist related. The main activities here would be eating Indonesian food, seeing temples, going to markets and other shops.
