First Impressions Of Alila Seminyak Bali
So I mentioned those incredible ocean breezes that greet you in the lobby when you check-in. Just a little reminder you have the beach right on your doorstep. I love that rather than waiting to check-in standing at the desk, you get seated in comfortable lounges and they sort out all the details there. Not to forget the delicious welcome drink and dessert. Although Alila Seminyak is one of the best luxury hotels in Bali, it definitely has those relaxing beach vibes and all the staff are so friendly and welcoming.
Location, Location, Location
Alila Seminyak ticks all of the boxes, including location, which really allows you to experience Seminyak with ease. Seminyak is a fairly spread out area of Bali, and Alila Seminyak is located right in our favorite part of it, Petitenget. Here you have beautiful boutique shops, delicious restaurants from casual to fine dining, beach bars (including Alila’s own beach bar and fabulous restaurant Seasalt) and Petitenget beach. You can walk to many of these places, or get a taxi if you prefer. Alila Seminyak also has a shuttle bus to Seminyak Square throughout the day.
Some places of note right around the area of Alila Seminyak include Potato Head Beach Club, Flat Stanley Pizza, and Kaum, to name a few.
The Room
When we first walked into our room, we were both blown away by the beach that felt literally on our doorstep. We stayed in a ground floor Ocean View Suite. We had huge sliding glass doors opening out to our terrace with sun loungers looking out to Petitenget Beach. And all that is just what was outside our room.
We always love the minimal design of Alila hotels and resorts, and our room was no exception. It had the perfect balance of luxury and comfort. Our room had everything we could need or want from a place to relax with a sofa and coffee table, the type of bed you really wish you could spend every night in, and an extremely wide shower head and bathtub with ocean views.
Beyond The Room
Although hard to peel ourselves away from our room, there is so much more to discover at Alila Seminyak.
We loved starting the day with a delicious breakfast by the beach, where you could choose from the breakfast buffet and also order from a menu and have it delivered to your table. I loved the quinoa porridge and Chris loved the scrambled eggs with hash brown and roasted tomato. When in Bali I always try to have my fair share of Jamu, a delicious turmeric, tamarind and ginger based drink which they, fortunately, had available at breakfast. The service was great and the options were endless, including healthy and indulgent options.
One of our favourite things about Alila Seminyak was their beautiful infinity pools. We loved the Serene Pool which was risen and really felt like the pool melted into the beach. We could have easily spent all day every day here, it was so relaxing. There are more pools around the resort, including at Alila Seminyak Beach Bar, a perfect spot to relax during the day or grab a drink and enjoy the sunset. And if you would rather swim at the beach, you can literally walk out the front of the resort onto the beach and jump in.
The grounds of Alila Seminyak have the perfect balance of cultural connection, sustainability, and a modern luxury feel. We loved the green vertical walls, a unique way to incorporate plants into the design. And of course, the temple which remains in place in the green area near the beach. One area we are guilty of not making it to is the gym, but it’s there if you need it.
Sometimes restaurants located in hotels can feel like they are just there to tick a box. Well, not at Alila Seminyak. Seasalt is the restaurant at Alila Seminyak and it is a stand-alone culinary feat, one of the best restaurants in Seminyak. In fact, we had heard such great things about it, that we had actually already enjoyed a sunset dinner at Seasalt before our stay. So we were pretty happy to be going there again and this time, with only a very short walk back to our room. You can read more about our time at Seasalt in our upcoming article.
Spa Alila At Alila Seminyak
It’s almost like a rite of passage to get a massage on a Bali holiday. But getting a massage at Spa Alila is like a holiday in itself. The space is instantly calming and beautiful, with long low-lit walkways to their huge luxury treatment rooms with everything you could need. The staff were so friendly, especially our therapists Balek and Ajus. Chris had an Alila Seminyak Massage and I went for the reflexology and we both loved the experience. Whether you are staying at Alila Seminyak or not, we would definitely recommend some self-care time at Spa Alila. It’s such a beautiful place to unwind and relax.
