Flights To Bali From Australia

A lot of Australians have a love affair with Bali. And it helps that flights to Bali from Australia can be relatively cheap and direct. But it’s not always the case, and if you don’t plan ahead or get lucky, you could be in for a hefty price and stopovers. Here we look at some things about Bali flights you should know to help get the best deal.

Airfares

Airfares vary greatly throughout the year.

Fares are usually most expensive:

  • During peak season (June, July, August)
  • During Australian School Holidays
  • Christmas and New year Period

Fares are  less expensive during off peak season. However, great sales are also released throughout the year, so it pays to be flexible with your dates so you can take advantage of some great deals. If you wait for a sale then you can get cheap airfares to Bali during most times of the year.

It also varies with which airline you choose.

On average, you will pay between $300 and $1200 for flights to Bali from Australia. Obviously, it depends where in Australia you begin your journey. See the following table for further breakdown.

Airlines

Many airlines fly from Australia to Bali, from budget to the worlds best airlines.

Virgin Australia Flight To Bali

Direct Flights to Bali from Australia

The following airlines can fly direct from Australia to Bali:

Jetstar: Jetstar fly out of 11 airports within Australia. Jetstar would be considered a budget carrier and has some great sales throughout the year.

Virgin Australia: Recognised as the best domestic airline of the year in 2012, in general you will pay more then a budget carrier but you get what you pay for. Having said that, Virgin also do great sales to Bali throughout the year that match budget airline sales. Virgin fly to Bali from 9 different airports across Australia.

Garuda: Garuda is Indonesia’s national airline. Garuda fly out of 4 different airports in Australia, including Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth, direct to Bali.

Flights to Bali from Australia with Stopovers

The following airlines only fly from Australia to Bali with stopovers:

Air Asia: A budget airline that will stopover in Kuala Lumpur. Fly out of adelaide, sydney, darwin, gold coast, melbourne, perth.

Singapore Airlines: Fly through Singapore then onto Bali. Makes for a longer trip and only worth it if you intend to stopover in Singapore (which I highly recommend) or want to fly with this airline. Singapore Airlines is a world class airline, but you will pay for what you get.

Malaysia Airlines: Maylasian Airlines fly through Kuala Lumpur then to Bali, which can be more expensive then flying direct with other airlines. Only worth while if you would like to stopover in Kuala Lumpur.

Cathay Pacific: Flights stopover in Hong Kong, which can be more expensive then flying direct with other airlines. Again, this is only beneficial if you wanted to combine your stay in Bali with a trip to Hong Kong.

Qantas: Qantas do not technically fly to Bali, but they offer share flights with Jetstar. For example, Qantas will fly you to another Australian city or Singapore, and from there you will get on a Jetstar flight to Bali. So unless you have a need to stop over at another Australian city or Singapore, I don’t see much point going this way just to go with Qantas for part of your trip.
