If you love food, then Canggu is the type of place you will definitely get excited about. Canggu is brimming with delicious food venues, from healthy cafes to stunning restaurants serving cuisine from all over the world to amazing sunset spots. Our experience of Ji Restaurant Bali, a beautiful restaurant at Hotel Tugu Canggu, was the perfect combination of everything we love in Canggu. Contemporary Japanese food that was so delicious I really didn’t want to stop eating it, refreshing Asian Inspired cocktails, stunning ocean and sunset views from Ji Terrace By The Sea, and the service was so friendly.
Ji Restaurant Bali Menu + Food
The menu at Ji Restaurant Bali is full of delicious options, it’s super tempting to order way too much, everything looks so good. The menu is broken into sections including light, bowl, noodles, sides, salads, carpaccio, tempura, nigiri, main courses, sushi platter, charcoal, sashimi, maki rolls, special maki rolls and desserts. See what I mean? How can you not order something from each section?!
We had the duck breast and Japanese mushroom salad, which was personally one of my favourite dishes. The duck breast was so soft and the salad dressings of soy and mirin made the entire dish bounce around in your mouth.
From the charcoal, we had Succulent Crispy Pork Belly, which managed to have crispy skin and melting pork, another must-try dish.
We also had the Tic Tac Toe Sushi Platter, which includes nine pieces of nigiri based on the catch of the day. Everything was really fresh and the flavours were simple yet tasty.
And from the Special Maki Rolls, we loved the Dragon of Ji, which was prawn tempura, avocado and tobiko spicy mayo. I think this is a classic combination of flavours that most people would enjoy.
We honestly loved everything we tried, and highly recommend all of these dishes if you come to Ji Restaurant Bali.
After all this delicious food, we somehow found room for dessert. We tried the Banana Cake Miso Ice Cream and the Melted Chocolate Ball. We really enjoyed the desserts and loved that they weren’t too sweet.
The Drinks
Ji Restaurant Bali has really refreshing Asian Inspired cocktails. We absolutely loved the Coco Sexo which had rum, coconut, vanilla and passionfruit and the Tori No Su, which had gin, mandarin, starfruit, sour apple and cucumber. There was quite a large array of signature cocktails and classic cocktails to choose from, not to mention the variety of other drinks available.
Sunset at Ji Terrace By The Sea
Ji Restaurant Bali is essentially made of two parts, Ji at Bale Sutra, a temple from 1706, and Ji Terrace By The Sea. Although both options are beautiful, we had our dinner at Ji Terrace By The Sea. Here you have stunning views of the ocean and it’s the perfect spot to see the sunset. The terrace is beautifully designed and feels fancy yet laid back. If you’re coming for sunset, I’d come earlier to get a seat or make a reservation in advance, especially if you’re part of a group. Dinner, drinks and sunset at Ji Terrace By The Sea, is one of our favourite experiences in Canggu.
