Passport
Your passport must have at least 6 months left before expiry.

Language
The official language of Lombok is Bahasa Indonesian. however many of the more traditional and/or remote locals speak Sasak languages. English is spoken in tourist areas and resorts.
Banking
Make sure you notify your bank before you go away of the dates and location of your holiday. Most banks will cancel your credit/debit cards if used overseas without notification or if they cannot contact you immediately to verify.
Health and Medications
An important thing to do before you fly is get a letter from your GP listing your prescription medications and keep this with your medications. Please see Lombok Health for further detail.
Travel Insurance
This is a must. As the old saying goes, “if you can’t afford travel insurance you can’t afford to travel”. It’s really not worth the risk, on so many levels, to skip this part. Compare the different policies available to find the one that suits your situation the best.
Electric Plugs
Lombok Electricity is 220V/50Hz. So you will need a two pin adaptor to use your appliances in Lombok.
Currency
In Lombok, the currency is Indonesian Rupiah. Currently, $10 AUD = 94, 760 IDR.

Time Zones
Lombok’s time zone is Central Indonesian Time which is UTC/GMC + 8hrs. Lombok is 2 hrs behind Australian Eastern Standard Time (and 3 hrs behind during Australian daylight savings time).
Banking
Banks are in most tourist areas of Lombok. ATM’s are also in Senggigi, Mataram, Gili Trawangan, Gili Air and Praya. Other more remote areas may not have ATM’s and it is recommended to take cash. Banking hours are usually from 8am – 3pm weekdays, however, some can close as early as 11.30am. Foreign currency can be changed at major banks and authorised money changers. It is good to carry small notes with you for taxi’s and tipping. However, credit cards are widely accepted in major tourist areas.
Tipping
A government tax and service charge are normally added to your bill at hotels and restaurants. However, a small tip for great service would also be appropriate.
Airport Customs
You are allowed 1 litre of alcohol per person, 200 cigarettes, 50 cigars, 100 grams of tobacco and perfume for personal use.
