The beautiful pool, amazing design and friendly staff are all highlights of this beautiful Gili Air accommodation. This is island life.
First Impressions
Arriving at Gili Air by boat, seeing the clear blue water, palm trees and sandy streets is enough to make you immediately relaxed. But then arriving at Slow Gili Air, well, that just takes it all to another level. The oversized stepping stones to the lobby and thatched roof make you feel like you’re in an island paradise. The staff are friendly and check-in is relaxed, cold towels are very welcomed, and a run through of a detailed map with all the best places to eat and swim makes you feel like you have all the best local tips.
Location, Location, Location
Slow Gili Air is located on a beautiful quiet street, about a 10-minute walk from the harbour and about a 5-minute walk from the nearest beach. But you can get to most places on the island by bicycle in about 10 – 20 minutes (one way). Some of the best swimming beaches are about a 10 – 20-minute bike ride from Slow Villas. The best spots for sunset are nearby Slow Villas, about a 10-minute walk or 5-minute bike ride.
The Villa
Our one bedroom pool villa is absolutely stunning. Opening up the wooden villa doors, the first thing you see is the beautiful pool, a huge garden area with pool loungers and coconut trees and the thatched roof of this luxury Gili Air Villa. And that’s just outside. You walk into the kitchenette, with cooking facilities, fridge, tea and coffee. And then you see the beautifully designed bedroom, which has a bohemian, island feel, with simple, beautiful touches. You walk down a few steps to your outside bathroom. There’s nothing quite like showering in your stone shower looking up to the sky and palm trees above. Every morning you can start the day with breakfast by the pool in your villa. We loved the nasi goreng (Indonesian Breakfast) and banana pancakes (Gili Breakfast), that come with delicious fresh juices, bread and fruit. In our opinion, Slow Villas Gili Air are amongst the best of Gili Air accommodation.
Beyond The Villa
The lobby area is stunning, with its oversized stepping stones continuing after the lobby and becoming the path to your villa. You can get water refills whenever you like from the lobby, which is something we loved. And there’s also bicycles you can hire to explore the island, which I highly recommend, it’s the best way to get around and discover Gili Air. There is also the beautiful Slow Spa onsite. You can also organise snorkelling trips and other island activities through Slow Villas.
