Where To Get Great Indonesian Food in Ubud

Indonesian Food In Ubud

There are so many great places to try and enjoy some tasty Indonesian and Balinese food in Ubud. These are a few of our favourites both simple warungs and modern restaurants.

Cafe Wayan

Cafe Wayan

Beautiful garden setting and great Indonesian food. We love their pandan pancakes (dadar gulung).

Ibu Oka

Ibu Oka

Pretty much the first place anyone hears about when they ask ‘what is the best Balinese food‘, is the suckling pig from one of the three Ibu Oka warungs in Ubud. If you go to the one closest to the Palace and Market, head upstairs for a more traditional seating experience.

Dewa Warung

Dewa Warung

Simple yet effective. They do a good Nasi Campur. The juice we had there was so refreshing.

Biah Biah and Biah Biah+

Biah Biah +

They have both ends of town sorted for a yummy lunch or dinner. Nice and relaxed.

Bebek Bengil

The place to go if you want ‘dirty duck’ a Balinese slow cooked spiced duck. Big venue with a nice outlook. We do like Balinese duck but the style is similar to suckling pig with the use of spices (see Ibu Oka) but we love the pig variation a lot more.

Melting Wok Warung

Melting Wok Warung

Well its not strictly Indonesian Melting Wok is a great warung serving great curry, noodles and daily specials. Really good.

Dayu’s Warung

Dayu's Warung

Not in the thick of things in Ubud but thats a good thing too. The street having a more local vibe. Simply good food.

Spice by Chris Salans

Fancy Indonesian flavours. Western techniques meet with Indonesian Flavours and local produce.

Sate Arang

Sate Arang

Sate is one of the first things you think of when you think of Indonesian food. Come here for a great designed restaurant serving high quality food and sate. Traditional flavours and beyond.

If we were to really single out some of our favourites, Ibu Oka cannot be missed and Melting Wok Warung is one of our favourites :) Sate Arang left an impression on us too, yum. Whether heading to Ubud for the first time or a seasoned Ubudian you are sure to love these places if you are after a boost of Indonesian flavours in Ubud.
