Melting Wok Warung Ubud

Our Food At Melting Wok Warung

The Melting Wok Warung was right at the top of our list of warung’s to visit on our last visit to Ubud. Unfortunately for us they were closed for the entire time we were staying in Ubud. This time we were not going to miss out.

They were open. Tick. We were hungry. Tick. But they were full and all tables had reservations! NO TICK! However we did get lucky. The super nice and approachable seemingly owner/manager put us immediately at ease and offered us a table until the booking time came around. This was perfect for us and we had plenty of time to enjoy ourselves. This being said definitely worth the time to book your table in advance.

I loved that the only menu was on blackboards, I am not sure why as we usually stare at menus for years trying to decide what to order. Not that there was pressure to order quickly but it was refreshing to see a smaller menu and we decided on the spot what we were eating.

Basil and Ginger Chicken with Mushrooms and Noodles

Delicious Noodles with Basil Ginger Mushroom

Great noodle dish. Everything was right up my alley on this one. I basically could just name all the ingredients and flavours and say I loved them. Simple yet so good. We ordered medium spice on both dishes, which was a little hot for Mandy but I could have done a little more. This heat level is what we call perfect. Others call it Medium.

Chicken in Curry Coconut Milk with Rice

Chicken Curry Coconut Milk

As soon as there was more than one curry option and one had ‘Coconut Milk’ I knew that Mandy would not negotiate. I enjoyed it too. Just as the noodles were exactly what I felt like, this curry did the same for Mandy.

We passed on dessert but the dessert menu looked inviting. The feel of this Warung was really nice, small and full of really friendly staff. Definitely will be back.
