If you’re travelling to Gili Air, I’m sure you’re looking forward to swimming in the clear blue water, relaxing at the beach and knowing you can walk or ride a bike anywhere you want to go. But the food here also quickly becomes a highlight of your trip, from local Indonesian food to healthy cafes, or simply being able to enjoy a meal on the beach whilst watching the sunset. Here are our picks for where to eat in Gili Air, Lombok.
Gili Air Food Map
Pachamama Organic Cafe
One of the best places to eat in Gili Air, Pachamama not only has delicious organic food with many vegetarian and vegan options, but it has a beautiful design and friendly service too. We loved the roast eggplant burrito, mung bean falafel and nutty dragon smoothie. It’s located on a quiet road and feels like your own little oasis.
Location: Jalan Svea, Gili Air
Hours: Monday to Saturday from 9 AM to 10 PM
Warung Sunny
Warung sunny is located on a quiet inland road on Gili Air, in what looks like a big hut. It has the most delicious local Indonesian food and really friendly service. We loved the Taliwang Ayam (a spicy grilled chicken dish from Lombok) and Opor Ayam (a coconut milk curry chicken dish). There’s nothing quite like riding your bicycle down the dusty tree-lined island road, leaving your bicycle by the tree of your choice, and sitting in the open-air hut eating delicious Indonesian food.

Hours: Every day from 10 AM to 10 PM
Classico Italiano
Classico Italiano is a popular Italian restaurant, but don’t come expecting pasta or a wide range of Italian dishes as their speciality here is pizza, but they do it well. It’s not your traditional pizza base, more of a thin and crispy one that’s also wood-fired, but it’s delicious all the same. We also loved the aubergine parmigiana. Either come early or make a reservation as it fills up quickly.

Hours: Tuesday to Sunday from 6 PM to 10 PM
Mowie’s Beach Bar
Mowie’s is a beach bar and restaurant perfect for watching the sunset, either from a beach chair, table or bean bag. From here you can see Mount Agung on Bali when the skies are clear. But it also serves delicious food, definitely worthy of coming here for the food alone. The pumpkin gnocchi was our favourite dish, but they have a range of dishes and cuisines and are open for breakfast, lunch, dinner and anything in between.

Scooperific
If you’re after something sweet and cooling, scooperific has homemade ice-cream and sorbets. They have a couple of locations on Gili Air.

Slow Villas Gili Air
Although Slow is not a restaurant, if you’re looking to stay in a beautiful villa that has delicious food, you should definitely consider staying at Slow Villas. Here not only do you get your own private pool villa with a kitchenette if you want to do some simple cooking yourself, but they prepare a tasty breakfast for you and deliver it to your room each morning. You also have the option of getting other meals cooked for you here too if you wish. We loved our stay here and the food was always such a great start to the day.
