Where To Stay In Sanur? Best Areas
Sanur is located along the east coast of Bali, north of Nusa Dua and south of Candidasa. It’s about a 30-minute to 1-hour drive from Ngurah Rai International Airport. A lot of accommodation options are located along or near the beach. But some are located further inland.
So where to stay in Sanur? We recommend staying either on the beach or not too far from it. Some accommodation options are located further away from the beach on the other side of the highway, which I personally think would take a lot away from the Sanur experience.
The main part of Sanur is located around Sanur Beach and the main street of Jalan Danau Tamblingan. The most central area to stay in Sanur is along the main street between Jalan Pantai Sindhu and Mertasari Beach. We would definitely recommend staying in central Sanur to make the most of your time here.

Is It Worth Staying In Sanur?
Sanur is often overlooked as a place to stay in Bali, with people often choosing areas like Seminyak, Ubud, Uluwatu or Canggu. But we think it’s definitely worth staying in Sanur, especially if you have been to Bali before or you’re looking for a quieter, laid-back stay.
What we like about Sanur the most is that feeling of almost stepping back in time and experiencing Bali as it was many years ago. A sense of quiet nostalgia as you roam or cycle the streets. Sanur, in the best possible way, has managed to protect itself against the constant ever-evolving changes that many places in Bali experience. That’s not to say that you can’t find delicious restaurants or modern luxury resorts, merely that it’s not defined by these things.
Sanur has so much to offer, from its traditional night market where you can taste delicious Indonesian dishes, to a beautiful boardwalk along the beach, not to mention swimmable beaches. Sanur is also a common gateway to Nusa Penida and Nusa Lembongan, for either day trips or the next stay in your Bali Itinerary.
We often get asked, is it better to stay in Sanur or Seminyak? Honestly, the two places are very different. We would say stay in Sanur if you’re looking for a quieter place where you can swim and ride bikes but also have access to some great restaurants and accommodations options. Stay in Seminyak if you want a busier vibe, endless amounts of incredible restaurants, boutique shops and nightlife.

How Many Days In Sanur?
How many days you need in Sanur is pretty dependent on your Bali trip. If you’re planning on having one base and doing some day trips to explore more of Bali, then staying in Sanur for the entirety of your trip is possible.
If you’re combining a stay in Sanur with a stay in another location in Bali, which is what we would recommend, then I feel like 2 – 3 nights would be a minimum to be able to take advantage of ‘relaxing’.
To decide how long to stay, look at the main things you want to do in Sanur and how long this would take you, and then decide how much additional time you would want to spend relaxing and swimming at the beach to get your ideal length of stay.

We absolutely loved our stay at Hyatt Regency Bali, a stunning 5-star hotel in Sanur. The staff are really friendly, the expansive gardens are so beautiful and the food at the on-site restaurants is delicious. This beachfront hotel is also home to 3 outdoor pools, including a beachfront pool and kids pool.
As Bali’s first-ever 5-star resort, along with a recent 5-year renovation, we think this is perhaps the best place to stay in Sanur. Hyatt Regency Bali has deep roots in Bali, making for a very special stay.

Andaz Bali – A concept By Hyatt | $384 | Check Availability
A beautiful luxury hotel located in the heart of Sanur, this also happens to be one of the newest resorts in the area. Described as a modern interpretation of a Balinese village, this resort has a beautiful nod to Balinese design and lush tropical gardens.
Here you will find rooms, suites and villas grouped around different courtyards. Rooms have spacious balconies and oversized bathrooms, including some with lagoon access. There are also one-bedroom garden villas with private pools and two-bedroom beach villas also with a private pool.
Facilities include three swimming pools, including a beach-facing pool and a kids’ pool, a fitness centre, a spa, a kids club and onsite restaurants.
InterContinental Bali Sanur Resort | $362 | Check Availability
What was previously the Fairmont, is now the InterContinental Bali Sanur Resort. Recent renovations have enhanced the experience of this property.
This beach resort is located in central Sanur. Here you will find spacious rooms and a range of villas, from one-bedroom pool villas to three-bedroom pool villas.
Maya Sanur Resort & Spa | $243 | Check Availability
Maya Sanur is another great luxury resort located on the beachfront.

All guests enjoy a 24-hour butler service, a free shuttle service to Sanur Beach, free use of bicycles and daily a la carte breakfast at the restaurant.
Tandjung Sari Hotel | $409 | Check Availability
There is a beautiful quote from the founder of Tandjung Sari, “My hotel is my living room, my guests are my friends”. I think this sums up the special feeling of this unique beachfront hotel. It actually originated in the 1960s as a house for the owners and developed over time into the boutique resort that it is today.
Here you will find a range of bungalows, that is, stand-alone cottages in walled gardens, built by local craftsmen.
On the grounds, you will find a salt-water swimming pool, a gym, a library and an open-air restaurant, all immersed within lush tropical gardens.
The Pavilions Bali | $213 | Check Availability
If you’re looking to stay in a villa, then The Pavillions Bali is a great option.
Here you have a choice between one-bedroom garden villas and one-bedroom or two-bedroom pool villas. There is also a shared outdoor pool on the property, along with a restaurant.
Although it is not located along the beach, it is within walking distance or you can use their shuttle service.
